Sisterhood Pattern

Yup, I started it the other day! She was hanging around headless, but she had her fancy shoes on! So I definitely had to fix that! It was getting a little weird! :)

I picked an awesome color for the wording, and stitched the bottom half of the words. (all over one, mind you!) And when I started putting the skirt on her, the r and t from Comfort just blended in to the dress too much! So I tried a new color and am going to go with that. Only now I have to frog all that over one wording! UGH! :)

But the pretty little stitcher is all stitched. She's a cutie!

Keep watching, she'll be ready to hit the road soon!

A Few Little Finishes

DH and both boys had plans for the weekend, which left me all alone for hours at a time!!

YAHOO!

I found this free pattern online just this weekend. But I can't seem to find it on the website anymore! In fact, I printed four or five off of that website just this weekend, that aren't there any more. This is one of them, I just loved the saying "Seize the Daisy". Now I like things small, but I'm thinking this is way too small. It's probably 1 inch by 2 inches, a little pin cushion. I stitched it over one, I'm thinking I might stitch it again and make a bigger pin cushion out of it.

For the back, I took their S from the front and used it for my initial on the back. It's a cute S too, usually S's are the ugly letter for some reason! I changed all the colors around, so they'd match my turquoise fabric better.

Last year, I saw this fob finished on some blog out there in blogland! It's different parts of a pattern from Fall Crazy by Lizzie Kate. Isn't it cute!?

Front:

Back:

Side: (I did 3 beads every other stitch while I was combining the little fob. I LOVE it! :) I wish I would have remember not too make the cord so long, ah wel...it can't be perfect!)

This is a tiny little pattern off of a Prairie Schooler pattern. I made a little thread fob, what do you call those things? I might stick the red hook back on there, but I kind of like the white.

My boys HATE bedtime. So whenever possible on Friday nights we let them stay up as late as they want. There are only two rules:

1. No fighting
2. No bugging Mom

Thankfully my 12 yr old has figured out when he's tired to go to his own bed and fall asleep!

My younger son hasn't quite figured it out yet! Last week DH found him at the computer desk, sound asleep with a pillow placed over the keyboard! This weekend I found him like this! He was reading his Star Wars book and fell asleep!

Remember the Sisterhood pattern that I won last week? I finished two RR's that I needed to stitch last night, so I have starting the pattern. I'm stitching it over one, so it will take a little bit longer. Hang around, I'll have my drawing soon. I've had lots of new readers since I won that little pattern. You guys aren't all going to leave me after the drawing, are you? :)

Happy Stitching!

Happy Owl-O-Ween

Yeah! :) It's so cute! I love his little checked wings! I need to buy a jack-o-lantern button for the middle O. I only had plain pumpkins and they were too big.

Went to the dentist yesterday, 10:00-11:00. At 9:30pm I finally gave in and took some pain medicine. Should have taken it hours earlier!

As a favor to a friend of DH's , we let a lady come do a Rainbow vacuum demo last night. TWO HOURS later, on a school night, she left a little unhappy with her vacuum! It was awesome, and if I had $2,000 to randomly spend, I might have bought it! But when I start thinking of the food, clothes and stash I could buy with $2,000 I'll just keep using my "piece of crap vacuum". And that's a direct quote from the vacuum lady! :)

DH has a football game on Saturday, Luke has a sleepover tonight, Andrew has a youth event tomorrow. Looks like some stitching time for me! Yeah! :)

Most Visitors Ever!!!

I had 88 visitors today! That's the most ever! And 3 more followers...oh my head is gonna get big! : Thanks for stopping by everybody! Hope you come back!

Happy Owloween succeeded in calling my name! I have the branch and wording left to stitch...the little owl is CUTE!

No playing around tomorrow: kids are getting out 2 1/2 hrs early, and I'm volunteering at the middle school again. Thursday: dentist for me! And DH thought it'd be great to have a Rainbow vacuum demonstration, so I need to clean up so the lady will have something to vacuum!!

Maybe tomorrow evening, I'll have time to finish up my little owl! He's cute I'm warning you! :)

YEAH ME!!

Okay, so I listened to my inner voice and finished the Secret Garden! :)

(Though that Happy Owloween is really calling my name! By chance, I even had all the WDW for it already.. when does that happen?!)

I changed a few little things. I changed the wording on the front. My 91 year old Grandma has been telling me for the past ten years or so, to make sure through all the busy-ness that I "Take time to smell the roses!"

I was very anxious and took pictures in my son's room where the computer is, so it's all funky backgrounds! Just ignore that!

I used the leftover silk threads to make the cording, turned out okay! Decided to put my cool French scissors in the case..need to find something else for the other pocket.

Can you see the little heart and key charm on the ends of the cords that tie the whole thing together?!

LOVE IT! And I still have an hour until I have to pick up my oldest from school....

Happy Owloween! :)

Is it a bad thing?

To start new projects all the time!?? :) I'm in one of those moods where I want to start all kind of new projects, and I'm ignoring all my big projects! :)

My Secret Garden: all I have left is to iron, attach charms, make some cording, and sew it shut! I did finish and attach the gate!

And look at my very own secret garden! I don't like it all that much, but it'll do! I'm just not creative! :)

And I had a sample of one that somebody did online and they added their initials, so I added mine also! Wish I had more exciting initials! LOL

Then MD (my stitching friend from the weekend of stitching) thought I needed to stitch this one, so I did! It's a french freebie somewhere out there in blog land!

While I was at MD's we picked out some ornaments from the JCS Preview Issue. This is going to be finished so it looks like a little sucker. It's gonna be CUTE! It was tan and burgundy in the issue, but I wanted to match the fabric that MD had!

MD also had the Halloween issue, and I found a few things to stitch on that one! Yesterday I was here:

Then I went ahead and finished it last night.

Have you heard of Sam Bish? He is an 8 yr old who was diagnosed with cancer. A group of ladies is making a quilt, and I get to stitch SUPERMAN! He is taking forever, but I'm almost done with him..I just forgot to take a picture!

I cleaned all day yesterday and have school volunteer jobs for tomorrow. Today is rainy and drizzly, I'm going to watch Dancing with the Starts last night and stitch most of the day away. The goal is the trim for the Secret Garden, maybe I'll even iron and attach the charms. The problem, is there is a pattern called Happy Owloween that is really calling my name! LOL

Happy Stitching!

I forgot I had stitched this one the other day! :) I was going through all my patterns deciding what I wanted to stitch and I saw this pattern, not even sure where I got it! Happened to have a green fabric in my scraps and I really like how it turned out! :)

It's Official: I'm Old

I bought a pair of shoes today for comfort, not for style! Yup, I'm old!

I've been needing a pair of brown sandals for a long time, two years actually! I just refuse to pay $30 for a pair of sandals. Plus I wanted a pair that could be casual or dressy! You know, sandals are a must in the south! I kept looking and looking, but never found anything.

So today, I had an empty 30 minutes, so I stopped into Kohls. (gotta love their sales!) I went just to the shoe department, and I found a few pairs of shoes. Size 9's are hard to find in clearance! Trust me... Two pairs were very cute, and one pair was, well, not as cute. But boy were they ever comfortable! So after trying on all three pairs, numerous times.. I picked the not so cute ones! I wore them all day today, and boy were they comfortable! Cute? Nah, not really!

Now these shoes were $60.00 marked down to $14.99, so you didn't expect I could walk out with just one pair did you? So I bought the other really cheap pair. I left the cutest ones there...I'm sure my feet will thank me some day!

Sisterhood Arrived

Sisterhood arrived today! :) Everybody has written a little one-liner on the pattern and signed their names. It's very cool, I must admit!

The day that Jill announced I was next in line, I had 69 visitors! That's the most ever! Wonder how many I'll have whenever I actually finish stitching her and am ready to pass her along!

I've picked out my fabric, a random piece of 38 ct. I had in my drawer. Wonder if I should stitch it over 1? I'm just saying!! :) I'm going to try to pick out threads tomorrow, but I really like just what the pattern calls for, so we'll see.

Secret Garden

After working on my Flower Power for three days straight...I needed a little bit of a break! I'm still stitching flowers and I don't even really care about flowers! This is going to be a Needle Neccessary and I just love how it's turning out.

It's all stitched on one long piece of fabric:

This will be the cover: I need to add some wording in that big empty space.

This will be the back. I picked the initial pattern from an antique stitching book that I found in my Grandma's things when she passed away years ago.

One of the stitched panels that will be inside the little book.

I am somebody who stitches exactly what's called for on the pattern. Very rarely do I adjust a single thing on a pattern. In the middle of this Secret Garden, is a secret garden behind a little gate that actually opens. Well, wouldn't you know, the secret garden really is a secret! I have to stitch the whole thing with whatever flowers I want to stitch! SCARY!! Above this blank space is a branch with a bird, but the rest I have to design myself!! YIKES!

Since I took this picture, I'm almost finished with the above section. And I've added the two pockets to the other two panels.

Almost finished! If I can find time to stitch tonight, all the stitching will be finished, then I just need to add the charms and sew it together.

Sisterhood

I'm finally part of the Sisterhood! A while ago, I started reading about this traveling pattern and thought it'd be fun to try to have my turn. Believe it or not, I only tried twice. I got an email saying I won over the weekend!

So now, I happily await another pattern to stitch...and while I'm waiting, I need to figure out what cool colors I am going to use! Then I need to pass it along! Maybe then all my readers will come out of hiding! Ya think? :)

I need to get caught up with all the rules and the history of the Sisterhood, but I'm thrilled to be a part of it!

Well I figured out the history at Daffycat's blog, apparently she sent it to Jill, who emailed me over the weekend and said it was my turn! :)

A Stitcher's Paradise

Last weekend, I was invited to my friend (MD)'s house for a weekend of stitching. Well, either that or I invited myself, not sure how the whole thing got started! MD decided to take Friday off, bless her heart, so we could start our busy schedule a little earlier!

There are a few rules to a Stitcher's Paradise: no cleaning and no cooking. MD has her spot on her couch, and I have my spot on her other couch and we don't move much from our areas! :) We did break the no cooking rule, we ate a pizza on Friday night. Other than that, we didn't use the oven or dishwasher!

I arrived on Friday morning about 10:00. I would have been there earlier, but I had to stop and buy some junk food, because MD likes to eat healthy! And, you know, I have to eat junkie! We did a little "show and telling and sharing" like usual and then started stitching! We did stop for a ham sandwich about 2:00, pizza at 6:00. Other than that, we stitched until 2:30 AM! Is that a perfect day or what?!

We went to bed for a few hours, and by 8:30 we were back in our spots for some more stitching! We did take a break this day: we each made a little mini cupcake pincushion. I did the stitching, MD did the stuffing. I didn't follow the directions (as usual) and MD had to help my poor little cupcake out! And we made fancy little pins. Can't wait to share and show them off! Boy they turned out cute! Krazy Glue is our new friend.

We ate another ham sandwich for lunch on Saturday. And for supper, well, I had Bugles and a banana, MD had a bowl of cereal. YUM! :) Then we decided we'd watch a movie (after stitching and talking for about 30 hrs, we ran out of stuff to say-sort of!) We put in a second movie, Runaway Bride, about 12:30am. I'm not saying who, but one of us might have been snoring by the end of this movie! I know how the movie ended, so it probably wasn't me doing the snoring! We went to bed Saturday around 3:00AM.

Slept in a little on Sunday, until 9:00 and immediately went to our spots. Well, maybe I ate a bowl of cheerios! I think I did actually. We stitched until I got a phone call around 2pm, that my family was heading home. That was my clue that my party was over!

I stitched the whole weekend on Flower Power. Here's where I was when I got to MD's house:

Here's where I was when I left! (the model didn't want to be seen!)

Oh wait, there he is!

MD stitched a bunch of cute little ornaments...I'm not sure how she always finds cuter ones than I find. Friday night she started and finished LHN Hen Party! Talk about a cute pattern! Love it!

I ended the weekend by frogging what I stitched the last hour! That darn FP has really similar symbols!! See that tall pink flower? Well, there was another one there until I realized the symbols were different! DUH!

Have you heard about those neat Witman tins?

Well we decided we needed to make one for ourselves! But did you know they come like this?

Trust me, I am working really hard on this project!

Don't worry, there's another layer left to work on! :)

MD and I figured we could have easily stitched another full day, if we wouldn't have been disowned by our DH's! Hopefully we'll do it again soon! Gotta love three days full of stitching!

I have more to show...have you heard of the Secret Garden scissor case?! I'll show you over the weekend. I don't want to overload this post!

Okay, fine...I'll give you a little hint!

Okay, so maybe I'm feeling chatty tonight! Here's the last picture, I promise!! :) This was a picture my family took, to show our new shirts off to the person who gave them to us! But it turned out to be a pretty good picture, so thought I'd share!

*edited to add pictures!*

My nieces!

My nieces sent me this awesome little video! They are growing up in Alaska, and sometime I feel like I'm missing out on their whole lives.

Their dad is my baby brother, and his wife was kind enough to take some time to make my day! Love it!

whoops!

My fob has two sides to it, really it does! I must have posted in such a hurry last time, that I didn't even notice I put the same side of the fob twice! Thought you needed to see the bunny side!

My son Luke was making himself some hot, peppermint tea this afternoon. He asks how much sugar should he put in the cup. I reply, two scoops.

Apparently, I am the only person who knows that scoops=spoons. I caught him as he was adding his second scoop. Out of the corner of my eye I see him POURING sugar from a 1/3 cup measuring cup into his single cup of tea. I asked what he was doing, and he said, "YOU said two scoops!"

Apparently when he got the sugar bowl, the 1/3 cup was left in the container and he figured I meant two scoops with the scoop in the container! YIKES!

I had an awesome weekend...a real stitcher's paradise so to speak. I'll tell you all about it later. I'm baking chocolate chip cookies as we speak, and need to pull them out of the oven!

Still Stitching

Well, actually, I guess I'm finishing! Yeah for me!

Here is the Stitcher's Wallet. It's by Thistle Threads, for those who asked. And acutally it's called "An Empty Purse" go figure! I have no idea where I got it. I bought a pattern from a lady I know online, and I think she might have included it in the extras she sent!

It needs a button, but my stitching momma is gonna give me one this weekend.

I even figured out what a gusset is and what to do with two of them! It's not perfect, but pretty good!

Here's what it looks like when you open it.

My fob finally has trim. And don't tell the stitching police, but since I can't figure out how to sew on cord, without messing the cord up, I gave up and GLUED IT!

I finished this too. Wish my lining was better!

And here's the back, oops, it's crooked...lean to the left!

And a little surprise for my needles on the inside.

And remember this?

Now it looks like this!

Come on now, it's cute! Isn't it?

Last but not least, my stitching momma told me I had to stitch these two reindeer on blue fabric. So I did. I mean she made me do it! :) They are freebies out there, aren't they cute?

Okay ladies, boys are in bed, Dh is in bed.. it's STITCHING TIME! :)
